Monster High Dolls Are Here

The idea of collecting dolls either for fun or profit is nothing new. Most people start out their collections simply for the love of dolls. They enjoy playing with them or even just displaying them so that their beauty can be appreciated. Some dolls end up gaining quite a bit in value. If you are able to predict which dolls will grab the imaginations of the public, you could make a nice profit with your hobby. The problem with that plan is that predicting what others will like can be quite a challenge. Some dolls come strictly from the imagination of their creator. Others though, are based on popular icons or trends in the current culture.

One of the more popular dolls being sold right now is a collection of monster teens who are supposed to be the offspring of famous, well known horror movie monsters.  These are the Monster High Dolls, and they are getting tough to find as collectors snatch them up.  Even if you don't particularly have a fascination with the current vampire craze, you may want to grab a Monster High Doll just to say that you have one in your collection.

Vampire Dolls

Every generation has dolls representing famous people of their times.  Television shows and movies often has a very strong influence on what will be produced.  It is not at all uncommon to see characters from these genres emulated in vinyl and plastic as big toy companies create their doll sized likenesses for adoring fans.  Sometimes these dolls simply fade away as the next trend comes along.  Other times though, they gain a strong following.  When this happens these dolls can see an exponential increase in their value as the years pass.    Right now there is a rather odd fascination with characters based on vampires.  Without a doubt the Twilight movies and books are the spark behind this interest.  People are in love with these fictional characters and their exploits.  People have even gone so far as to get tattoos of these characters applied to their bodies.  That is certainly a strong statement of one's devotion to a fictional character.

One of the strange things about the Twilight fascination is the fact that it spans across demographics where you might expect to see a drop off in interest. Anyone from middle age down to elementary school age is likely to have seen and enjoyed one or more of the movies or books. The dolls that have been released to coincide with the series are likewise holding in their popularity.

The well known maker of the Barbie Doll, Mattel, would not be where it is today if not for an ability to sniff out and make the most of a potential market. Realizing that there was a gap in the marketplace, the came up with these rather unconventional dolls to fill the vampire loving void. They are strange looking and "monsterish" without looking too scary.

If you have a young person in your life who is caught up in the current trend toward all things vampire, you might want to consider these dolls as an unusual gift idea. They don't cost too much, and they might even end up being worth some money in the future.

One more thing... If you know a child who has been wondering "what should I be for Halloween?", this could be the perfect inspiration. Monster High costumes are also quite popular this year. Check out the dolls for some quick inspiration!
