Above Ground Swimming Pool Covers
60Swimming Pool Covers
Most people who own their own home start to at least consider how nice it would be to own a swimming pool at some time or another. Usually this occurs during a part of the year when blazing heat is making everyone miserable. If you have decided to take the plunge and go ahead with your pool installation project, there are some essential add on items that you should definitely invest in as a part of your pool purchase.
One of the most important pieces of pool equipment that you can purchase is a swimming pool cover. Swimming pool covers
work to serve several purposes. The first kind to consider is the
solar swimming pool cover. This wonderful piece of pool equipment
actually looks like a giant sheet of blue colored bubble wrap. Made
from durable plastic, these covers are floated across the surface of the
swimming pool in the evening when people are done swimming for the day.
They can also be left in place on top of the pool at times when no one
is swimming. When placed on the pool during the evening hours, these
covers serve the purpose of trapping in heat which has been stored in
the water during the day. Without the cover, water can lose its heat
rather quickly. Due to the fact that there is so much surface area in
your typical swimming pool, cooling can occur rather quickly once the
sun goes down and the air temperatures begin to drop. Because the
trapped air in the covers "bubbles" work as insulators, the heat in the
water will now stay put and still be relatively warm the next day if
people decide to take an early morning swim. These solar covers are
also very good at preventing debris from falling into the swimming pool.
The
other kind of swimming pool cover that should be purchased is a winter
swimming pool cover. These are not designed to insulate, but rather to
close the pool for the winter. These covers also serve to keep blowing
debris and dirt out of the pool during the unforgiving winter months.
They are typically either weighted down along the outer edge of the
swimming pool, or tied down, often with a heavy gauge wire and a ratchet
mechanism. These stay in place until the warm weather arrives and it
is time to open the swimming pool again.
Both types of covers are
very good at what they do. The specifics of the cover you will need
will be a bit different depending on the type and size swimming pool you
own. In general, above ground swimming pools
cost less to own, equip and operate than in ground pools. If you
choose not to get a cover, you might want to prepare yourself for quite a
bit of extra pool cleaning. They are definitely a wise investment for
anyone who will be in charge of cleaning and maintaining a swimming pool
throughout the year.
